Can you please tell me if my computer is infected in some way?

I opened Internet Explorer, which went to my homepage of Google, and I noticed that the little icon beside the URL (favicon?) is now changed to some icon with orange background and a curved design which looks like the letter C. Is my computer infected? How can I fix this to make it go back to the normal Google icon? Has this happened to anyone else? Please help me.|||Follow these exactly and then it should change it. Could also be a problem with your browser which part 5 should solve
